BREAKING DOWN THE MAT: Week of March 16, 2020

A list of everything you'll need for your virtual Stages class broken down by class!

*Due to a staffing change for tomorrow's classes, we will be doing "Pippin" for Broadway & Me virtual classes on Monday, 16.

COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.
BUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLE MACHINEBUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLES MACHINE
MAGIC WAND: If you don't have a magic wand handy, a kitchen spoon with ribbons or strips of fabric taken from old clothing or socks tied around the neck works great!
MUSICAL INSTRUMENT: Grab your child's favorite instrument to use! We'll be using a percussive instrument on the mat (drums, tones blocks, plastic tupperware works great as well!)
TRAINS: If you don't have a toy train handy, a toy car works just as well!
HANDLE INSTRUMENT: Something your little one can hold on to and shake or use to tap on things around them to make noise.
CLEAN-UP BIN: Hampers, Tupperware, Baskets, or Ikea Bags work great!

BUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLE MACHINEBUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLES MACHINE
LETTER BLOCKS & FIRST WORD BOOKS: Don't have letter blocks or first word books? Anything that has letters on it will work- letter magnets form the fridge, your child's favorite book, etc.
RAINSHAKER: Any item that is visually stimulating and has the ability to make noise is great!
XYLOPHONE: The idea is to have your child hold on to an item and use to to strike another item which then makes noise. Other things that work great: tupperware container with a wooden spoon,
BELL: Something your little one can hold on to and shake.)
CLEAN-UP BIN: Hampers, Tupperware, Baskets, or Ikea Bags work great!

BIG THINK MUSICAL INSTRUMENT We are going to ask your child to go on a treasure hunt to find something in the room they can use as an instrument that isn't really an instrument. Plan on having a few things handy so they don't have to leave the room to get one!
ROOM TO DANCE! We'll be teaching them how to dance like our favorite ocean animals. Make sure they have plenty of space!
FLOWER We're going to be searching for Who's on Clovers and talking about the different parts of flowers. If you have a flower you can keep handy that won't make a big mess, we'd love to have your child use it during class!

CIRCLE SHARE ITEM Since class is at home, we want to make circle shares extra special by letting Little Stars show us and tell us about something special in your home. It can be a lovey, favorite toy, baby brother or sister... anything that they have always wanted to bring to show their teachers and friends but weren't allowed to!

WHO INSTRUMENT This can be an actual instrument or anythitng your Little Star can use to make noise!

ROOM TO DANCE with a table or counter nearby to put your electronic device on. We'll be working on choreography and want to be able to see you!
A PRIVATE SPACE Please find a quiet, private place for your child to participate in our virtual classes. Video conferencing can be difficult if there's too much going on in the background and we know some of our K-8 friends don't like when moms, dads, caregivers, and siblings watching them practice. 😉
